Developer Newborn Holistic Ministries is the parent organization of Martha's Place, a recovery program for women who are conquering addictions and changing their lives. The organization is located on the border of two struggling, yet hopeful, Baltimore neighborhoods: Upton and Sandtown-Winchester. Newborn has made significant strides in not only helping more than 50 women reclaim their lives, but also taking back the neighborhood, one building at a time. They now own 6 housing properties plus several vacant lots, all in the same corner area which was known not long ago for drug activity. The staff and residents of Martha's Place have given hope and inspiration to the community. They created a sacred place that includes a mural and a small garden for sitting just outside of their recovery housing along a bustling section of Pennsylvania Ave. Their intent is to memorialize all community members who have died as a result of drugs.
